• Toyota Stout

The Toyota Stout or Toyopet RK was a light truck, which was manufactured by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota.

Launched in April 1954 Toyopet RK, a 1 ¼ to.-truck was larger than the model built SG similar but smaller than the model FA. 1955, the car was redesigned and was now 1 ½ tons. drag.

The standard version consisted of a 2-door cab with 3 seats and a separate box with tailgate. Other body styles from the offer of Toyota included a van, an ambulance, a double cabin van (2 doors, 6 seats), three different flatbed, a minibus (predecessor of the Coaster) and an ice cream sale cars.

All models had the then usual technical details, such as ladder frame, leaf springs, solid axle and drum brakes on all wheels. The car was equipped with two windshield wipers, two outside mirrors (from 1955), axle caps, chrome trim and dual headlights equipped.

The Model 1954 was designated as 1 ¼-ton truck, but had only 1220kg payload. The Model 1955 was designated as 1 ½-ton truck, but had only 1330kg payload.

In 1957, the RK was revised, resulting in the RK30 and RK35 models emerged. In May 1959, the cars were named Stout.

1960 a completely revised model was presented, which today most well known version of the Stout. In the Japanese market, a Toyota R engine with 1453cc capacity for the RK45 and 1897cc for the RK100 was offered.

Exports began in September 1967 with the RK101. In some markets (eg in the U.S.) replaced him in 1968 the slightly smaller Hilux but in many other markets (eg South East Asia or Australia) the Stout was sold in parallel with the Hilux. The RK101 had the Toyota R engine with 1994cc capacity.

These cars had back leaf springs and drum brakes on all wheels, and a lead frame. There was a flatbed (2 doors, 3 seats), a double cab (4 doors, 6 seats) and a 2-door panel van.

In March 1979, the Stout received another facelift and now looked more like the smaller Hilux, but fulfilled the same role as before. He also had the same engine with 1994cc capacity.

It gave the car is a flatbed (2 doors, 3 seats) and double cab (4 door, 6 seats). 1986 production ended with no direct successor.
