Porsche 919 Hybrid
The Porsche 919 is a prototype hybrid sport tandem Closed LMP1 approval, built by the German manufacturer Porsche, which will debut in the World Endurance Championship in 2014. First Le Mans prototype built by Porsche from the RS Spyder in 2010. uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a hybrid system based on engine batteries.
The nomenclature 919 is a reference to the successful 917 of the 1970s, and the 918, which is a hybrid supercar that debuted in 2013.
Porsche made an initial announcement of the new program on June 11, 2012. Exactly one year after its announcement, the first test of chassis completed its initial release. The 919 engine uses a four-cylinder turbocharged 2-liter gasoline direct injection and two energy recovery systems. The first public display of the car was the December 14, 2013.
