Isuzu Axiom

The Isuzu Axiom was an SUV, Isuzu manufactured in its operated together with Subaru SIA plant in Lafayette (Indiana) in the model years 2002 to 2004 as a successor to the Trooper. As the base model was the rodeo. In model year 2005, the axiom was replaced by Ascender.

The name Axiom emerged from a contest in Japan. Dr. Hakan Urey from the USA won it in 2001 and got a price on Axiom.

The Axiom was delivered with all-wheel drive and torque-on-demand system, and has since 2004, on request an engine with direct injection, the 230-250hp (172-186 kW) outputs. The radical styling of the Axiom was felt by some customers as too extreme; but a surprising number of design elements has been adopted by other SUVs. Under the angular body of the axiom there was the largely unchanged chassis of the Rodeo by Critics described as very rough. The elegant body was available only in luxury design, which further limited the market. The Axiom was discontinued in July 2004 after only three years of production, and Subaru vehicles in particular the Subaru B9 Tribeca were only manufactured in the factory in Lafayette,. With the cessation of production of Axiom and Rodeo Isuzu offered, which offered once a complete range of cars, trucks and SUVs in the U.S., not a single Consumer vehicle made in Japan to more. In the years 2006-2009 is the Isuzu range only from American GM vehicles with Isuzu emblems: The i-series is a GMC Canyon and the Ascender corresponds to the GMC Envoy. Isuzu withdrew from the North American markets; 2003 Canada and 2009 in the USA. The axiom, however, was never offered in Canada.
