Fiat Brava
The Fiat Brava is a by the Italian manufacturer Fiat from the end of 1995 until the fall of 2001 manufactured car, which belonged to the compact class. The Fiat Brava was the five-door version, the three-door was sold under the name Fiat Bravo. The station wagon and saloon were built from mid-1996 as a Fiat Marea. The latter model was to distinguish larger bumpers and a wider track.
The Fiat Brava was chosen together with the Bravo Car of the Year 1996. The predecessor of the Fiat Brava was the Fiat Tipo.
The Tipo initially sold very well in the European market, the buyer remained after the first, disastrous crash tests from almost completely. The dramatic slump in sales of this model brought the already struggling Fiat group in additional trouble. Too late realized Fiat that the Tipo could not be improved so much in the safety aspects that he could offer competitive security. For this reason, the models were Bravo and Brava launches, which were the vehicles until then the fastest developed in the Fiat Group.
In just over two years the cars were developed from the first drafts to the start of production. The first goal was a modern safety features, so that the debacle of the Tipos would not repeat. In a Euro NCAP crash test in cooperation with the ADAC and ÖAMTC but the Brava received only two out of four stars. The cabin would still be too weak to even small improvements, however, a third star would have been possible.
The Brava (and thus also of Bravo) was not a great success, which could not change an advertising campaign featuring Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.
Already in October 2001, Brava and Bravo were replaced by the Fiat Stilo. In Egypt, however, the Brava first generation remained in production. in the spring of 2007, the Stilo was in turn replaced by a new generation Bravo. This started as a five-door – so in that model variant, formerly called Brava. A resurgence of the name Brava has thus become unlikely.
The naturally aspirated diesel engine has been replaced very early by the first generation of turbo diesel engines. With the 1999 model year finally stopped by a newly developed common rail diesel engine moving into the compact car. At the same time, referred to as inelastic and thirsty 1.4 12V engine has been removed from the program and replaced by a new 1.2 16V engine. These motor changes were made as part of a facelift, with the smaller visual details as well as the Trim levels were revised. From then also included side airbags as standard equipment.
Delivery of Brava was in the equipment variants:
