• Fiat 600 Multipla

The Fiat 600 (or "Seicento") is a small car of the Italian car manufacturer Fiat. The car was produced in 1955 and founded the brand’s success in the 1950s and 1960s.

He was next to the little brother Fiat Nuova 500, the first of the egg-shaped models of the Fiat Group. The goal was to consume as little as possible plate which in Italy was still scarce and expensive at the time. With rear-wheel drive and a newly designed rear engine equipped, the 600 was at that time a kind of family car, because with only 3.29 m long and 1.40 m wide he could carry four people.

At the beginning of 633cc and 23hp reached the 600 almost 110km/h, with which one could travel even long distances.

1956, the first Fiat 600 Multipla on the market, a four-door six-seater, the front of which had been extended and enlarged. He was one of the first cars in front handlebar design. In addition to running as a six-seater, there was a small camper, with the four to five people were transported, as well as a special taxi version.

The Carrozzeria Savio presented from 1965 to 1975 the Fiat 600 Savio Jungla ago – a small, open fun car, which was a total of approximately 3200 copies.

In Spain, a four-door model as Seat 800, which was built from 1963 to 1967 in Barcelona appeared. Nearly 18,000 vehicles were produced in this period, as the taxi did their service in many cases. The Seat 800 is 30 cm longer than the base version of Seat 770, but was also provided with its 767cc engine.

In Argentina, the 600 by Sevel Argentina was offered.

The Fiat 600 was the model for the Soviet Saporoshez SAS 965

The success of the 600 meant that he 750 (pet name: FICO), also in Spain as Seat 600 (Seiscientos), in Yugoslavia Zastava was and built in Germany as NSU Fiat Jagst with fabric sunroof. This version was also built by the "Neckar automotive plants AG" (formerly "NSU-Fiat" and "Neckar Automobil AG") in Heilbronn for export. In the 1960s there were several revisions in which the front – and rear changed, especially the doors front instead of rear-hinged and the engine was enlarged to 770cc. After the introduction of the Fiat 850 (1964) led the 600 more and more in the shadows, sandwiched between Fiat 500 and Fiat 850 shrank its sales figures. In Italy its production in 1969 has been set, but there were persistent until the 1970s, a German fan base that ordered again and again, first the "770 Jagst" and then the "Jagst 2", the last in Germany Seat offered as a Fiat 770 S, which was built according to vehicle documents Seat in Barcelona.

In Germany the Fiat 770 was taken out of the offer after the cessation of production in Spain in 1973 final. Much longer lived the Zastava, most recently with ³ to 850 cm enlarged engine. The Zastava 850 is thus a Fiat 600 with a 850-cc engine, not a Yugoslav version of the (larger and more modern) Fiat 850 until the year 1985, the production of the car was finally stopped. Cheapest model in Yugoslavia was strong der Zastava Yugo.

Appeared in 1998, the Fiat Seicento, has revived the name of the traditional car, but is a different, more modern design with front wheel drive.
