Mitsubishi Pajero – the type of off-road vehicle manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. The first generation Mitsubishi Pajero off-road appeared in 1982, however, its roots go back much earlier. Prototypes for the Pajero were, among others, Study Mitsubishi PX33 (1934), Minica Jeep (1969) and finally Pajero I (1973). The work on the serial model began in 1979. Enjoyed great popularity well as its successor – the second generation (1991) and third (1999) – on Spanish-speaking markets, known as the Mitsubishi Montero in the UK. Britain as Shogun. Currently on the market there is already the fourth generation of the Mitsubishi Pajero, which had its premiere at the fair in Paris in 2006

Mitsubishi Pajero I debuted in October 1981 at the Tokyo Motor Show. The first prototype car was built in 1973.

Mitsubishi Pajero II debuted in 1991. Most powerful engine was a V6 petrol engine, 3.0L with 150hp, optional automatic transmission 4-speed gearbox or 5 speed manual. In 1994, a new V6 petrol engine, 3.5L with a capacity of 208hp, gearboxes remained unchanged. At the end of 1997, the car underwent a light facelift, the most powerful engine offered in this model, the facelift was a V6 petrol engine, 3.5L with a capacity of 194hp, while in some markets was offered GDI V6 petrol engine, 3.5L direct injection of fuel which reached power 245hp. Also in late 1997, a special limited edition Pajero Evolution. Made only 500 pieces, and only 3 door version. This version was only available in three colors: white, silver and red. The vehicle received a modified V6 petrol engine, 3.5L with variable valve timing MIVEC engine with 280hp, optional chest 5 speed manual or 5-speed automatic with sequential shift. With this engine, the vehicle gave the up from 0-100kmh in about 8 seconds. All models of the second generation Pajero Super Select possess drive, which had a choice of drive modes: 2H – rear-wheel drive, 4H – all-wheel drive, 4HLc – all-wheel drive with the locked center differential, 4LLc – four- wheels with central locking enabled Differential and activated regulator. Mitsubishi Pajero III has been designed by a team of Pininfarina. Produced in 1999-2006. The most powerful engine was a V6 petrol engine, 3.5L with 200hp or in certain markets with a capacity of 220hp. The choice there were three types of gearbox: 5 speed manual, 4 speed automatic INVECS-II and 5 speed tiptronic INVECS-II. At the end of 2002, the vehicle has undergone a gentle facelift. All models have a third generation Pajero Super drive Select 4WD II (SS4-II), which had a choice of drive modes: 2H – rear-wheel drive, 4H – all-wheel drive, 4HLc – all-wheel drive with the locked center differential, 4LLc – four-wheel drive from the locked center differential and activated regulator. Mitsubishi Pajero IV were presented at the International Motor Show in Paris in 2006. Versions outfitting the car is: Invite, Instyle. The most powerful drive unit is a gasoline engine V6, 3.8L 250hp with MIVEC variable valve timing. Fourth-generation models have drive Super Select 4WD II (SS4-II) is known from the third generation Pajero.
