• Dodge Neon

Dodge Neon – the type of car manufactured in 1995-2005 by Daimler-Chrysler.

Neon belonged to the class of compact cars, was the successor of the Shadow (Plymouth Sundance), and the 2006 was replaced by the model Caliber. Neon produced in factories in Toluca (Mexico) and Belvidere (USA). There were two generations of the car – the first produced in 1995-1999 and the second from 2000-2005.

First generation Neon was available in two body styles (four-door sedan and two-door coupe), three trim levels (Base, Highline, and Sport, in 1998, resigned from the Base version) and two versions of the engine (SOHC – DOHC 132hp – 150hp; in Europe sold a model with an engine of 1.8 l), with manual (five-speed) and automatic (trójprzeÅ‚ożeniowÄ…) transmission. In 1998 introduced sportiest version of Neon RT.

Second-generation Neon was only available as a four-door sedan with engine SOHC (since 2002 also with Tritec engine 1.6 l) and five-speed manual transmission (since 2002 also with a four-speed automatic). In the second generation increased comfort at the expense of performance. Since 2003 was available sports model Neon SRT-4 engine of 2.4 l

Neon also sold under the brand names Chrysler (in Europe and Australia) and Plymouth (in the U.S.). In 2003 it was sold in Canada under the name SX 2.0.

Neon has earned a good reputation among users as a reliable car, little emergency, convenient and relatively economical. Among the competitors in the same class of cars (eg Honda Civic) stood out the most powerful engine, air-conditioning as standard and low price. For minuses were included for noise (and generally noise when driving fast, caused by tilting the glass in the door, frameless), weak headlights and hindered visibility to the rear. In European terms Neon is unrivaled among affordable cars equipped with large (by European standards) engine, air conditioning (standard) and an automatic transmission.
