The Cedric was launched by Nissan to compete with the Prince Skyline and Gloria models; after Prince was arrives in 1967 Nissan-owned, all three models were built for decades in parallel, where they shared the platform at a later date. Since the 1980s, Cedric and Gloria were always similar and differed mostly only in details such as the radiator grille, tail lights and model graduation. In October 2004, Cedric/Gloria were the Nissan Fuga replaced; an inexpensive Cedric model for fleet customers, based on the model generation Y31 of the late 1980s, is still on offer.
