Chevrolet S-10
It is known by the name of Chevrolet S-10 to a series of pickup trucks, produced by the American firm General Motors, for its Chevrolet brand. This is a pick-up truck median, manufactured since 1982 by GM in the United States and since 1995 in Brazil. The first three generations of the Chevrolet S-10, were made in the United States, while from the fourth generation began production in Brazil, with minor reforms aesthetic compared to the American version. At the same time, and then thanks to the participation of the Isuzu brand within GM, was made a version of the S-10 Brazilian for the Japanese brand was called Isuzu Hombre. At the same time, another vehicle derived from the S-10 that was manufactured by GM in Brazil was the Chevrolet Blazer 4×4, which remained in production until 2010.
Currently, the production of the S-10 covers the entire U.S. market, although with significant reforms. In North America, the S-10 is already made quite evolved generation, while in South America, we continue with the production of the fourth generation of the S-10, but with profound aesthetic touches respect to the first version launched in the year 1995.
The first compact pickup from General Motors was the Isuzu KB manufactured in Japan and shipped to the U.S. under the name Chevrolet LUV in 1972 through a partnership between General Motors and Isuzu signed in 1971.
The Arab oil embargo of 1973 forced GM to consider designing a compact pickup truck produced domestically. As usual, parts from other GM chassis lines (primarily from the intermediate platform "G" for General Motors were built). The first S-series pickups were introduced in 1982.
