Panoz Esperante GTR-the one is a grand touring car built by the American manufacturer Panoz. It was used in the American Le Mans Series championships, United States Road Racing Championship, IMSA GT, FIA GT and Le Mans 24 Hours.
Panoz Esperante GTR-the one (also known under the names Panoz GTR-1 and Panoz GTP) is a car designed by Panoz and Reynard Motorsport for endurance races. Although the name of the closer, it has nothing in common with the Panoz Esperante
In 1997, six cars are built, two cars "factory" for American competitions, two cars assigned to the French DAMS team and two on the British team David Price Racing. The first victory coming on the Road Atlanta circuit in IMSA GT Championship in 1997 and repeats on the same circuit the following year at the inaugural event of the Petit Le Mans.
Regulatory changes in 1999 Panoz grows to withdraw from the GT1 class, to abandon the GTR-1 and develop a prototype, the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S. However, one bought by Larbre Competition chassis return to competition in 2004 under the name Panoz GTP.
