The R90CK/R90CP is a standard developed by Nissan sports car prototype, which was used in the years 1990 to 1993.

A total of six cars were built, five of which were of the type R90CK, another, built for the Japanese version R90CP championship was called. The cars were used in the factory during the 1990 season, before Nissan 1991 one of the vehicles at Nova Engineering relayed that the truck revised and renamed in R91CK.

The R90CK is an evolution of the Nissan R89C. This is also indicated the "K" in the model number down, it stands for the Japanese "kai", which in German "improved" means. Like its predecessor was the R90CK Nissan Motorsports Europe (NME) in collaboration with the sports car manufacturer Lola designed and built.

The new car had improved aerodynamics and longer suspension travel, as well as the consumption of the engine was reduced. In the further development and the improved accessibility of important units was a key point.

Is powered R90CK, which is equipped with a 5-speed transmission, by an 8-cylinder twin-turbo with 3,496cc displacement, which carries the name "VRH35Z". In qualifying tune the engine achieves an output of up to 1200hp, while he makes about 800hp at 7600 revolutions per minute for long distance trim. Transferred to the road is the power of 18-inch and 28.5-inch (72 cm) wide rear tires while the front 17 Inches wide and 25.5 inches (65 cm) wide tires are mounted.

The Nissan R90CP is also an improved version of R89CK. The "P" in the model designation stands for Oppama, where the development center of Nismo (Nissan Motorsports International) is located. There was revised completely led by Yoshi Suzuka the aerodynamics of the vehicle.

During tests on the track of the Nissan Test Center in Arizona the R90CP reached a top speed of 396km/h With 366km/h R90CP was in 1990 in Le Mans the fastest car, but this time in race trim, ie with more downforce and therefore higher air resistance.

In the JSPC Nissan began two R90CP. One of the chassis has been completely rebuilt, the other was a for R90CP modified R89C (chassis 2).

The Nissan R91CK is one of Nova Engineering modified Nissan R90CK (chassis 7). For the 1992 season, the aerodynamics of the car with the help of NISMO was revised again. In addition to the modified bodywork, the car stands out in particular through the yellow livery with "From A" sponsorship of the factory Nissan.

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1990, a total of seven Nissan vehicles were at the start. In addition to the five current works cars also competed two year-old car privately employed. The works cars were used by three different charge at Nissan Motor sports departments. Two vehicles were from the American Nissan Performance Technology Inc. (NPTI), two from Europe and one from the NME native to Japan Team Nismo. The cars of the Nissan racing teams differed despite the same base between them because they used parts and aerodynamic packages from different suppliers. Overall, for Nissan thus 21 riders at the start.

In the qualification Mark Blundell was able to win the pole position with the R90CK. With maximum charging and special qualifying slicks he scored a time of 3:27,020 minutes, with whom he was six seconds faster than the runner-up Porsche. The R90CP used by the Japanese team qualified in third position, followed by two more R90CK in fourth (NPTI) and five (NME).

The checkered flag saw only three of the seven launched Nissan. The highest-ranked vehicle was the R90CP in fifth place (Hasemi/Hoshino/Suzuki), the number 84 prepared by the U.S. NPTI team (Earl/Roe/Millen) came in 17th place and the R89C used by the private team Courage Compétition was as 22 counted.

The inserts in the World Sportscar Championship (WSPC) were carried out by NME. From the second race of the season in 1990 the team went with two Nissan R90CK at the start, after it had started the season opener at Suzuka next to the modified R89C, now called R90CP, two year-R89C. In nine races, among others, Mark Blundell and Julian Bailey drove out two second and three third-place finishes and eight other point arrivals. This Nissan finished second in the team standings behind the dominant team Sauber Mercedes and Silk Cut Jaguar in third place.
