Nissan R92CP
The R90CK/R90CP is a standard developed by Nissan sports car prototype, which was used in the years 1990 to 1993.
A total of six cars were built, five of which were of the type R90CK, another, built for the Japanese version R90CP championship was called. The cars were used in the factory during the 1990 season, before Nissan 1991 one of the vehicles at Nova Engineering relayed that the truck revised and renamed in R91CK.
The R90CK is an evolution of the Nissan R89C. This is also indicated the "K" in the model number down, it stands for the Japanese "kai", which in German "improved" means. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1990, a total of seven Nissan vehicles were at the start. In addition to the five current works cars also competed two year-old car privately employed. The works cars were used by three different charge at Nissan Motor sports departments. Two vehicles were from the American Nissan Performance Technology Inc. (NPTI), two from Europe and one from the NME native to Japan Team Nismo. The cars of the Nissan racing teams differed despite the same base between them because they used parts and aerodynamic packages from different suppliers. In the qualification Mark Blundell was able to win the pole position with the R90CK. The highest-ranked vehicle was the R90CP in fifth place (Hasemi/Hoshino/Suzuki), the number 84 prepared by the U.S. NPTI team (Earl/Roe/Millen) came in 17th place and the R89C used by the private team Courage Compétition was as 22 counted.
With the Nissan R90CP Nissan Motorsports International began in 1990 very successfully in the Japanese Sports Car Championship All Japan Sports Prototype Championship (JSPC) part. All six races, the team finished in the points, where it won three wins and three additional podium finishes. Thus, Nissan won the manufacturers’ championship well before Porsche and Toyota. The inserts in the World Sportscar Championship (WSPC) were carried out by NME. In the season 1991 Nova Engineering began a to R91CK R90CK modified chassis with the drivers Akihiko Nakaya and Volker Weidler in Japanese Endurance Championship. Three second places and a sixth and tenth place secured the duo in sixth place in the drivers’ championship.
Also in 1992, the team went back to the JSPC while Weidler remained on the team, Nakaya was replaced by Mauro Martini. In the course of the season ill Weidler from tinnitus, which he suffered from balance problems among others. He decided, therefore, to end his career and was replaced by Katsutomo Kaneishi. This later had soft Heinz-Harald Frentzen. A second, four third and sixth place were Mauro Martini the season in sixth place in the Drivers’ Championship finish.
In the 1000km of Suzuka the R91CK 1993 played his last race in the commercial motor sport. The drivers were Mauro Martini and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
