Ford Escort RS Cosworth
The Ford Escort RS Cosworth is a sports car manufactured by the American company Ford in partnership with the British company Cosworth. It is a sporty version of the fourth generation of the Ford Escort and was marketed between 1992 and 1996 in two different versions. It differs from other vehicles the rest of the range thanks to its large rear spoiler. It has a Cosworth engine YBT a 2.0L turbo engine that has 227 Cv Series. Were manufactured in total 7145 units.
The Ford Escort RS Cosworth was created to replace the Ford Sierra Cosworth in world rally under his top flight of time, the Group A. The AIF established in the regulations required to manufacture 2,500 units of road vehicle to register the car in the World Rally Championship as Group A. Because of the great reception given to the public more than 2500 vehicles were made necessary although there were some changes between the first units and after the most notable being the substitution of the original turbocharger for turbo smaller Garrett T25 leaving the car with an output of 217hp. The Escort RS Cosworth was designed by Ford SVO facilities by Rod Mansfield and John Wheeler.
The Ford Escort Cosworth was the first Ford Escort with four-wheel traction. It was approved as Group A and competed in the World from 1993 to 1996 and lasted two years in the World Rally Car version His first official participation in the World Rally Championship was in the 1993 Monte Carlo Rally where achieved second and third place with pilots and Miki Biasion Franè°©s Delecour respectively being surpassed only by the Frenchman Didier Auriol with his Toyota Celica. Although never winning the world was quite successful at national and European level variis winning national championships and the European Championship in 1994 at the hands of Belgian driver Patrick Snijer.
