Dodge Shadow
The Dodge Shadow was one of 1986 produced by the U.S. automobile manufacturer Dodge and 1994 front-drive sedan in the lower middle class.
The Shadow was based on the P platform of the Chrysler Group (a shortened version of the K platform) and was sister model the Plymouth Sundance, from which it differed by only minimal details.
In Germany, the three-door version of the Shadow has been offered for several years under the name Chrysler ES.
In the early summer of 1986 Dodge Shadow as presented the new compact model of the lower middle class with four doors and tailgate; a three-door followed in the course of the year. The offer was initially only a single trim level, powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder with or without turbochargers, each with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic available. A sporty oriented ES package was for the three-door model for an extra charge and included under including alloy wheels and wide tires.
In 1988, the ES package was modified to include a rear spoiler, a front spoiler with integrated fog lights and trim.
Of 1989 all Shadow models have a new grille in the typical Dodge design with two intersecting struts. The previous turbo engine was replaced by a 2.5-liter turbo with 145hp, in addition to the program was a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 101hp. The chassis of the ES with turbo engine was designed with a slightly firmer.
Only for model year 1990, there were the Shadow ES with a 177-hp version of the 2.2-liter turbo engine.
As of 1991, the shadow program included a stripped down basic model version called Shadow America, the regular Shadow model and the transported to their own model variant Shadow ES. New to the program came with a convertible variant, which was to buy only with the 2.5-liter or its turbocharged variant.
From model year 1992, a three-liter V6 was available at extra cost for the Shadow ES.
1993 Shadow America accounted for as well as the turbo engine. As a new extra an ABS was added.
For the model year 1994, the convertible was no longer available.
From Shadow total of 670,000 copies were built (including 29,500 convertibles).
