Dodge Kingsway
The Dodge Kingsway was a passenger car, the Chrysler built in the United States solely for export markets. 1946 appeared the first Kingsway. Previously had the export models that were based on the U.S. Plymouth models, no specific model names.
The Kingsway was a Plymouth with Dodge emblems, but often also equipped with bumpers and other trim details from the Dodge kit. You should dodge dealers in overseas help cars in the lower price ranges for sale. The first pure export model was written in 1935 and this practice continued until 1959. There were many different body styles that depended mostly on where the model has been exported and which Plymouth models were just date. The vehicles were built in Detroit (Michigan) or Windsor (Ontario).
The Kingsway was the cheapest model in each case. It was based on the 1949-1952 Plymouth model with 2819 mm wheelbase, 1954 to 1958 on the Plymouth Plaza and 1959 on the Plymouth Savoy. The Kingsway DeLuxe 1946-1950 based on the Plymouth Deluxe, 1951-1953 on the Plymouth Cambridge, 1951-1958 on the Plymouth Savoy 1959 Plymouth Belvedere on. The tip design Kingsway Custom was the Dodge version of the Plymouth Special Deluxe (1946-1950), of Plymouth Cranbrook (1951-1953), des Plymouth Belvedere (1954-1958) und des Plymouth Fury (1959). Nur 1959 wurde der Kingsway Lancer angeboten, der auf dem Plymouth Sport Fury fußte.
With the introduction of the 1960 Dodge Dart was drained Kingsway.
The first appearance of the name Kingsway in 1940 with an export model for Canada to, in which it was provided with a Dodge emblems Plymouth Road King. The basic model had only one tail light, a sun visor and a windshield wiper – each on the driver’s side. The body was 100% with Plymouth emblems, hood ornament and grille of Dodge. There was a 2-door Business Coupe and Sedan with 2 or 4 doors.
Successor in 1941 was based on the Plymouth Kingsway D20. There were now two versions: the basic model and special. The Special cost CDN $ 25 – more than the basic model. The body styles were similar to those from 1940, but there was also a 5-seat coupe with rear auxiliary seats.
1942 Kingsway DeLuxe was renamed, a name which was taken over by Plymouth basic model. Also, 1946-1950 was the DeLuxe the cheapest Dodge.
Chrysler Canada bore the name Kingsway 1951, one on the Canadian market. He described a reclassified Plymouth Concord and replaced the name DeLuxe 1949-1950 used for the models with 2819 mm wheelbase.
The 1951er-Kingsway palette consisted of a 2-door business coupe, a 2-door hatchback, a 3-door "Suburban" station wagon and a 3-door "Savoy" combo. The Savoy had the interior and exterior features of the more expensive models. Dus Business Coupe was accounted for in 1952. Along with the Plymouth Concord and the Canadian Kingsway 1953 has been set.
The Kingsway and the Plymouth Savoy were mounted end of the 1950s in India by Premier.
A Kingsway model based on the Plymouth P25 from 1954 1954 to 1957 by Chrysler Australia built. A Ute Australia developed version of the Kingsway was introduced in 1956.
