Chrysler Prowler
Plymouth Prowler is an automotive style "retro" built in 1997 and between 1999-2002. The Prowler was based on the concept car of the same name, presented in 1993.
The Prowler is a modern interpretation of the hot-rod 1940 -. 1950 It is characterized by the front wheels are not covered by the body, like the Formula Indy cars.
At the launch in 1997, the Prowler is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 215hp from the Chrysler Concord, associated with a 4-speed automatic transmission. While a hot-rod must provide acceleration "madness" Prowler performance is disappointing, despite the use of aluminum in the construction of the frame (to minimize weight).
In 1999, the engine will show the power of 253hp, but will always be coupled to the 4-speed automatic transmission. Performance will grow slightly, but without the Prowler a lightning war.
To balance the masses between the front and rear, the box is mounted at the rear transaxle by the system (such as Corvette, Porsche 928). The distribution approaches the ideal 50/50.
The Prowler is the first powered Plymouth Plymouth Gran Fury from 1989. Though criticized for not offering a V6 3.5-liter engine offered a comparable contemporary Magnum V8 power. The relatively light weight of the Prowler for displaying outstanding performance, but not exceptional.
The car uses thousands of aluminum in its construction, especially in the chassis. In many cases, the components have been glued. The body was produced in Shadyside, Ohio, and the car was assembled by hand at the factory "Conner Avenue Assembly (CAAP)" Detroit, Michigan.
Due to a very limited ability to boot, it was possible to order a trailer taking up the rear part of a Prowler. It could be controlled in the same color as the car and was equipped with smaller wheels.
The Plymouth Prowler was produced in 1997 and from 1999 to 2001. After the demise of the Plymouth brand, the Prowler was sold under the Chrysler brand between 2001 and 2002.
Prowler is the last out of the assembly lines February 15, 2002. Was replaced by the Chrysler Crossfire in 2004.
The Prowler was sold under one of these 12 colors:
Other vehicles retro style followed the Prowler. Mention may be made, pell-mell, Chrysler PT Cruiser, SSR, HHR, Chevrolet Camaro and 2010 Ford Thunderbird 2002 Ford Mustang 2005 and the 2008 Dodge Challenger.
