Chevrolet Tosca
The Chevrolet Epica (internal V250) is a middle-class associated car the Korean automaker GM Daewoo that has been manufactured by the beginning of 2006 until the end of 2011.
In Australia and New Zealand the car as Holden Epica, was marketed in Iceland as Chevrolet Tosca and in South Korea as Daewoo Tosca. In some countries had applied the name Daewoo Veronica after the launch for a short time.
The Epica was introduced in February 2006 together with the Captiva SUV at the Geneva Motor Show. The notchback sedan replaced the Chevrolet presented in spring 2002 Evanda.
Compared to its predecessor, the front-wheel drive sedan grew in exterior dimensions only a small extent. The wheelbase of 2.7 meters was even identical to the Evanda. Visually though, fell to the more modern design with a rounder rear, larger clear-glass headlights and a side light rising edge.
The basic equipment of Epica LS belonged beside ABS and six airbags and air conditioning, a CD-MP3 radio, fog lights and a heated windscreen. In the high-order LT equipment, there was also an automatic climate control, parking sensors, electrically folding exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, electrically adjustable and heated leather seats, trip computer, CD changer, cruise control, rain sensor and the stability program ESC.
For sale beginning in the summer of 2006, there were two transversely-mounted six-cylinder in-line engines with 2.0 or 2.5 liter engine as a drive available. In March 2007, also a new 2.0-liter common-rail diesel unit by Italian VM Motori engine development was introduced, which produces 110 kW. All three versions also meet the Euro 4 standard and achieved CO2-emissions of just over 200 g /km. In South Korea, also a 1.8 L E-TEC II engine with 90 kW was (122hp) available.
A special feature was also the ex works available for both petrol engines LPG system. In this stage the gas tank with a capacity of 60 liters petroleum gas (LPG) has been installed in place of the spare wheel. Thus, not only the vehicle’s range increased, but it also caused lower fuel costs, making the emissions could be reduced.
For the two 2-liter engines in addition to the standard five-speed manual transmission, an electronically controlled six-speed automatic with manual gear selection was available as an option, while the 2.5-liter engine was offered only with the automatic. Either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic was available for the 1.8-liter engine.
In summer 2010, the vehicle was redesigned, which is reflected in a modified instrument cluster, as well as new tail lights with lights which continues through band without chrome trim.
From September 2010, the Epica no longer appeared in the German Chevrolet model range.
The end of 2011 the production of the Epica was discontinued as it was gradually replaced by the Chevrolet Malibu worldwide.
