Cadillac Solitaire

The Cadillac Solitaire was a concept car, the Cadillac division of General Motors introduced in 1989. The luxury coupe was equipped with a V12 engine developing 430hp (316 kW). The complete upper part of the car – from the lower edge of the windscreen was made of shatter-resistant safety glass to the rear window. Headlights and taillights disappeared under held in body color surfaces, so that the illusion of a car without Lighting equipment originated.

Front and rear wheels were covered with the front covers when turning pivoted outwardly in order to ensure a sufficient turning of the wheels. The car had no mirrors.

The long doors were to double hinges hung so that they do not swung at all open to the outside but slightly forward. Thus, the in and out was easy even in tight parking spaces. When you open the doors automatically swung the steering wheel toward the front and the unoccupied front seats slid forward to allow access to the rear seats. With the doors closed took front seats and steering wheel one of three preset Positions.

Initially, there were also rumors that the Solitaire should go into mass production soon, which, however, did not come true until today.
