Vauxhall Vauxhall VXR8
The Vauxhall VXR8 is a sports car sold by the British carmaker Vauxhall Motors from 2007 exclusively in the United Kingdom.
It is the heir of the Vauxhall Monaro VXR and how it is produced by Holden, the Australian subsidiary of General Motors, which also belongs to Vauxhall. The VXR8 in fact, like the Pontiac G8 GT sold in the U.S., it is only a slightly modified version of the Commodore HSV Clubsport R8.
The VXR8 is equipped with a V8 engine of 6.2 liters of origin Corvette. Onset was used LS2 version of that engine, capable of developing 307 kW (417hp) at 6,000 rpm and 550 N · m of torque at 4,400 r/min, but sall’aprile of 2008 was adopted version of the LS3 V8 engine with a maximum power increased to 430hp.
The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was able to shoot from or 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. The transmission includes a manual gearbox controlled six-speed manual, the same number planned for the automatic version, available as a paid option.
The first series included in the option kit also specific processing to boost performance. The most powerful allowed to increase the power up to 540hp.
In March 2010, stopped selling the first series.
In December of the same year it was announced the second series of the model, whose sales are scheduled for the month of March 2011.
This new series, rather than the version of the Commodore Clubsport R8 is based on the most powerful version of the GTS, always with the LS3 V8 engine, but with 325 kW (442hp) of power. The aesthetic upgrades apply to both the outside line, especially in the restyled front, and the interior, as amended in the instrument panel, center console and seats. The mechanics, borrowing the specific version of the GTS Commodore, also provides for the adoption of Magnetic Ride Control, a system able to change the structure of the suspension up to 1000 times per second.
This series was produced a special version called Bathurst S. The engine supercharged LS3 V8 has been modified to obtain a power of 560hp. This allows the car to a top speed of 250km/h.
