• Volvo 262C

The Volvo 262C is a car model Volvo. The car was designed by Volvo’s then chief designer Jan Wilsgaard and built by Bertone according to Volvo’s specifications. From 1977 to 1981

The first two years the car was only available in gray color with a vinyl roof. In 1979 and 1980 there were a few other colors in bronze, blue and black. As of 1981, there was also a two-tone version available. Of these, only 18 made.

The original engine of the 262C was the B27 2.7-liter six-cylinder, and there is also a 2.9-liter six-cylinder was delivered. These engines are both PRV engines, a collaboration between Peugeot, Renault and Volvo.

The 262C was and is an exclusive car because of the luxurious finish, the limited production numbers and the high price.

As a basis for the prototype of the Volvo 262C was a Volvo 164, which in the Italian factory body of Sergio Coggiola Beinasco/Turin (Italy), the two rear doors were removed and the roof was lowered. The knowledge gained through this conversion, was used by Bertone for the final version based on the Volvo 260. That model was provided as a kit by Volvo. There are 6622 copies of the Volvo 262C were produced in total, of which approximately 75% America was sold.
