Diesel 1 398 cm3

Suzuki Liana is a compact car produced between 2001 and 2007. Name Liana stands for Life In A New Age ("Life in a New Era"). It was first released in Japan in late January 2001 wagon version as the Aerio. His presentation takes place in Europe at Geneva in March of the same year. The sedan will appear in November (Aerio Sedan in Japan).

It is available with different engines to four cylinders (1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 liter M series, 2.0 and 2.3 liter series J) and transmission (5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic, two and four wheel drive).

Marketing in France intervenes in June 2001 with a single body (break), three trim levels and two engines. The range thus consists of 1.3 GL, 1.3 GL Plus (idem and ABS) and 1.6 GLX (ditto GL Plus and alloy wheels of 15 inches, side airbags). The latter can receive a full transmission surcharge. If the air conditioning and metallic paint options are part of the automatic transmission is, however, not available.

In autumn 2002, 1.3 GL is removed from the catalog. During 2003, the GLX is equipped as standard with air conditioning and a CD stereo.

In April 2004, the Liana receives some exterior modifications (front bumper/rear underbody shell) and interior (dashboard and center console, analog table edge). The range is reworked with the disappearance of the two-wheel drive version 1.6 and the appearance of a diesel engine 1.4 HDi 16V Original PSA. There remains only one finish, GLX, while metallic paint and air conditioning are options.

No change, Liana continued his career until January 2006 and its replacement by the Suzuki SX4.
