• Skoda Octavia III

The Skoda Octavia III is the third generation of the car model Skoda Octavia, which has been available since February 2013. The Octavia III is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB). The vehicle was officially launched in mid-December in the Skoda Muzeum and is in the Skoda Mladá Boleslav plant since December 17, 2012 as the sedan and since the beginning of April 2013 as the combination built.

The presented in December 2012 vehicle is easier through the use of high and ultra high strength steels up to 102kg than its predecessor. This is the CO2 emission of the Green Line trim level 89 g /km and fuel consumption is 3.4 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. The trunk volume of the sedan is 590 liters, while the Combi includes 610 l. The price level has remained the same compared to its predecessor. The Multi-link rear axle of the predecessor is replaced with a torsion beam axle at the engines up to 110 kW.

Since mid-February 2013, the sedan is available while the Combi is on the market since 25 May 2013. Later, the trim levels follow RS and Scout, the RS may be reappointed by a petrol or diesel engine.

In Octavia III safety systems in the vehicle are standard or available as an option. These include an emergency brake assist, a lane detection system, a multi collision brake as well as a fatigue detection. In EU countries, knee airbags and rear rear side airbags are also fitted as standard. At the start of production, a pedestrian protection system in the hood was used, which was canceled in mid-2013 again. As a direct consequence, reduced the Result for pedestrian protection of the Euro NCAP to 24 points or 66% (to May 2013: 30 Punkte/82%).

Besides KESSY (keyless entry start-and-exit system) for the first time in a Skoda convenience features such as adaptive cruise control, high-beam assistant and traffic sign recognition available. A sound system of Canton and advanced multimedia systems are also configurable.

For the launch, three uni-paint (Candy White, Corrida Red, Pacific Blue) are available. Likewise, six metallic finishes are available: Bright Silver, cappuccino beige, denim blue, metal gray, Race Blue, Rio Red, Topaz Brown. In addition, two pearl effect paint available: Black Magic and Moon White

First four TSI petrol engines and four common-rail diesel engines are available for the Octavia. The performance of gasoline engines is to launch between 86hp (63 kW) 1.2 liter displacement and 180hp amount (132 kW) at 1.8 l TSI engine. The power range of diesel engines to 90hp (66 kW) 1.6 liter engine capacity of over 110hp (81 kW) at the Green Line trim level up to 150hp (110 kW) a 2-liter engine range. For all engines, a Green tec version with start-stop system and recuperation is up to the respective base engine options offered. The vehicles can be equipped with manual or automatic DSG transmissions. Also versions with all-wheel drive as well as a Scout, RS and an especially luxurious Laurin & Klement version planned.

The petrol engines should have a by up to 23 percent reduced consumption, they come from the engine series EA211 (1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI) and EA888 (1.8 TSI, 2.0 TSI) of the VW Group, which in the Audi A3 8V, Seat Leon III and VW Golf VII will be used. Also, gasoline and diesel engines warm by a modified exhaust system faster, which is expected to reduce the demand for fuel.
