Seat Leon Prototipo
The SEAT León is a passenger car of the C segment produced by the Spanish manufacturer SEAT since 1999. Their name comes from the Spanish city located in the northwest León in the autonomous community of Castile and León. The Lion spans three generations, shared platform with other models of the Volkswagen Group.
The Lion is a five-seater with transverse front engine and front wheel drive, available only with a five-door hatchback body. 1999-2006
The first generation of Leon (1M) was launched in September 1999, built on the same chassis of the fourth generation of the Volkswagen Golf and Jetta, and the first generation of the Audi A3, Audi TT, and Skoda Octavia. This model is basically a five-door hatchback variant of the second generation SEAT Toledo, which was a four-door sedan designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
The gasoline engines were a 1.4-liter 75hp of maximum power, a 1.6-liter 101 or 105hp, 1.8-liter versions of atmospheric and turbocharged 125hp 180hp and 210hp (later 225hp) and a 2.8 liter 204hp. The SEAT León joined numerous sports variants.
