• Renault Sport Spider

The Renault Sport Spider was originally conceived as Spider-Cup for racing (Renault Sport Spider Trophy ahead of the Formula 1) and built by the Renault Motorsport Renault Sport in Dieppe unit.

The futuristic body design with the aufschwenkenden upward scissor doors did in the original version instead of a windshield of an air diffuser, with the approaching airstream flowing over the occupant is led away. To protect yourself while driving from insects and stones, driving with helmets recommended.

In the period from 1995 to 1999 he was also prepared as a street version with wind deflector or with a heated windscreen.

The vehicle is provided with an aluminum frame, comprising a main frame and a subframe, depending front and rear. The engine is installed as a central engine in the rear subframe cross from 2.0 liters of displacement and provides 108 kW (150hp). All wheels are independently mounted to the front of double wishbones and rear of triangular cross-and-length handlebars. On two axes, there are stabilizers. In front the shocks are mounted transversely and lying to a small height the body allow.

The outer skin of the spider is made of GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) and is bolted to the chassis. The weight of the stable GfK dress is responsible for the relatively high total weight of the Spider of about 965kg in the variant with windshields. The wind deflector-Spider is slightly lighter with about 930kg. The overall package helps the spider but a respectable performance and excellent road holding. For the corresponding race- Delay makes the disc brake system originally used 610 Turbo in Alpine.

In addition to the adjustable only lengthwise bucket seats from Recaro provides the Spider an adjustable foot pedals, to adapt to the driver size. For this, it dispenses with the spider on top, heater, radio, as well as power brakes, power steering and auxiliary equipment such as ABS or even ESP. As the only Sicherheitszugeständnis the windshield Spider from the factory with a raid airbag steering wheel (365 mm) was fitted, while the Wind deflector Spider was previously only delivered with a conventional 3-spoke steering wheel without airbag. In the state of the interior of both Spider-variants can be protected each with a aufknöpfbaren cover against rain water, for driving in the rain this is divisible with a zipper in the middle.

Claude Fior had developed from 1994 to 1996 in order for the Renault Sport Spider and the windshield successor. The patents for the wind deflector concept of the spider has Nogarotech today.
