• Ferrari 410 Superamerica

The Ferrari 410 Superamerica is a 1955-1959 built in three series sports car of Italian car manufacturer Ferrari. The label 410 goes back to the contents of a single rounded cylinder.

In 1951 Ferrari took in addition to the models with the smaller, by Gioacchino Colombo designed V12 larger models into the program, which were driven by variants of the larger V12 engine developed mainly by engineer Aurelio Lampredi based on the Colombo V12 for racing. Constructive main difference of the two V12 engine family was, amongst other changes, the enlarged from 90 to 108 mm for the Lampredi V12 cylinder spacing, the greater Hole dimensions allowed.

In this model the presented at the Paris Salon in October 1955 410 Superamerica replaced the previous 375 America.

The 4.5-liter V12 of the 375 was for the 410 Superamerica at 4962 cm ³ enlarged (bore x stroke: 88 x 68 mm) and performed initially with three Weber twin carburettors 40DCF-250 kW (340hp) at 6000 rpm and a compression of 8.5: 1 Otherwise corresponded to the technology of the 410 Superamerica box frame, front double wishbones, a solid rear axle and drum brakes on all the other contemporary Ferrari models. From the 410 Superamerica, whose wheelbase initially as the previous 2800 mm, later 2600 mm was emerged in a first series 1955/56, 17 specimens, 14 with Pinin-Farina body, a coupe and a convertible of Boano as well as a coupe by Ghia.

The second series, built 1956/57, had the shorter wheelbase. Seven specimens were clothed with Pinin Farina, one at Scaglietti.

The third series (1958/59), also on the short wheelbase, had some changes to the engine and chassis on (which consequently received new designations: Type 126A instead of 126 and chassis type 514A instead of 514). The spark plug engaged in the engine from the inside to the outside of the motor, which could be optimized the shape of the combustion chambers; characterized by larger and 42DCF Weber carburetors, the power increased to 265 kW (360hp). Further, the drum brakes are in Enlarged diameter. From the Series III 12 coupes came with Pinin Farina-body.
